I just have two quick items to share with you today.
The first is a huge thank-you to all the members that attended yesterday's rally and information picket at the U of A Hospital in support of health care workers. We had an impressive turnout from AASUA members, along with strong support from NASA, the Athabasca University Faculty Association, and CUPE 3911 from Athabasca University. Members of health care unions like Health Sciences Association of Alberta, the United Nurses of Alberta, and AUPE also joined us on the line. All in all it was a very positive and high energy event in support of health care workers and public services in general. We will soon be sharing some pictures of the event with everyone, but I can tell you in advance that it was a wonderful sight to see all those AASUA flags waving in support of public services.
I also wanted to send you a quick reminder about AASUA's Annual General Meeting, coming up on November 20th from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. This year's meeting will be held virtually, and is your opportunity as members to hear from your elected leaders about the activities of the past year and the state of the Association's finances. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions of your elected representatives and let us know what's on your mind.
More specific details about how to register for and attend the meeting will be forthcoming in the next week or so, but for now I wanted to remind you that members can also request that items be added to the meeting's agenda. This may be done by way of a written request (or by posting here) to the Executive by at least 20 members of the Association at least seven days in advance of the meeting.
If you have any questions at all about the AGM or anything else, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or to the AASUA office.
Wishing you all a great weekend and a safe reading week.
