Parliamentary Primer

Council - What we do

Council consists of the elected Officers and Directors; Councillors elected from and by each of the seven constituency groups; and the Executive Director (ex officio, non-voting member). Councillor seats are allocated amongst the constituency groups in accordance with the bylaws.

In addition to the authorities and responsibilities under the bylaws, Council establishes policies and procedures of the AASUA; makes recommendations to Executive on any matter affecting the collective interests of the AASUA; prescribes dues and fees to be paid by members; approves the AASUA's budget; approves the members of the Negotiations Team; and approves the AASUA's bargaining priorities.
