Direct Compensation for Property Damage;
A Positive Change for Alberta Drivers.

As you may be aware, on January 1, 2022, Alberta adopted a Direct Compensation for Property Damage (DCPD) system. DCPD is now mandatory for all Alberta drivers.

What is DCPD?

DCPD stands for Direct Compensation for Property Damage. DCPD is a section of your auto policy that will settle and pay for the repairs to your vehicle when involved in a not-at-fault collision. DCPD does not change your automobile coverage, only who pays for the damage.

Direct Compensation for Property Damage is a fairer and more customer-focused approach to insurance claims and vehicle repairs.

Most other provinces in Canada already use a DCPD system. It generally leads to:
