As a result of our call for additional health measures on campus, two public health information sharing sessions have been scheduled by university administration for the beginning of this year.

The first of these meetings is set for Jan. 11, and the second for Feb. 1. The meetings — which formerly took place regularly at the onset of the pandemic and are now being restarted — will bring staff associations and student union representatives together with university administration to discuss health measures as well as the latest data and assessments regarding the ongoing pandemic.

We are frustrated the employer has chosen to ignore our call to reinstate the mask mandate, but welcome this opportunity to continue our advocacy for safety on campus. Our President, Gordon Swaters, will be attending these meetings, and we look forward to sharing additional updates as we continue to work towards increasing transparency and accountability surrounding the employer’s decision-making on health measures.
