We want your expertise!

AASUA values the experiences and perspectives of our former members; any member who retires, or whose contract of employment ends, may still participate in AASUA by completing the “Registration Form for Former Members” and emailing it to the Reception. There is no deadline to complete the form.

Pending approval of Executive, Former Members who have registered with AASUA have the right to sit on any AASUA committee as a non-voting member as per article 22.1.2 of the AASUA Bylaws, as long as the committee is not related to collective bargaining, negotiations, or grievances. Former Members can also attend Council meetings, and with permission by the President, attend General Meetings, and Annual General Meetings.

While Former Members cannot vote in elections, referenda, ratifications, or any matter considered at a General Meeting, they can lend their voice to the conversation through committee-work and provide current members with critical guidance in navigating challenges and opportunities. Former Members may also speak at General Meetings and Annual General Meetings should they receive permission from the members in attendance, as well as at Council meetings, should they receive Council's permission.

Former members do not pay union dues or fees to the AASUA for the purposes of the Labour Relations Code or the Post-secondary Learning Act
