Dear colleagues,

AASUA received a proposal from the Employer yesterday afternoon, and the AASUA’s team tabled a counter in response shortly thereafter. With negotiations having taken this positive turn, AASUA believes it is in the interest of getting to a deal now to negotiate under a communications embargo of short duration. We have requested that the Employer agree to the communications embargo and return to the table in the immediate future — hopefully today. Unfortunately, this means we are not able to report on bargaining at today’s town hall and therefore must cancel the meeting.

We believe your quick mobilization and ongoing support for the bargaining team has directly led to this turn of events. Thank you!

We will continue to mobilize until we know for certain that we can bring a tentative agreement to the membership for consideration. Now is not the time to let up on the gas pedal!

Thank you to all who signed up to hear the bargaining update and ask questions. We look forward to returning to the membership with a comprehensive update as soon as possible. Rest assured that if you already registered for today's town hall, you will be automatically registered for our next town hall, which we will schedule once we are out of embargo and are able to update our members.

In solidarity,

Gordon Swaters
AASUA President
