AASUA

I am passing along some opportunities for action that we have received at the AASUA. These are not necessarily AASUA sponsored or endorsed actions, but I know that many of you would be interested in supporting them.

Order a Lawn Sign
The AASUA and other post-secondary unions across the province have purchased lawn signs to support the StopPSECuts campaign. The signs are pictured below. If you'd like to have one delivered to you for display on your lawn, please fill out and submit the order form here.

Save the U of A Ring Houses
As you may have heard, the U of A is currently planning to demolish four historic ring houses. A campaign has been launched to try to put pressure on the University to consider other options. You can get more information and access the petition from this site.

Laurentian University
On February 1, Laurentian University was granted insolvency protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA). This is a first for a public university in Canada, and risks leaving students, staff, and faculty out in the cold. CAUT has issued a strong statement in response to the situation. The Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) has launched a letter-writing campaign to demand that the provincial and federal governments intervene to ensure the survival of the institution.
