On behalf of the President, this is the final call to the membership inviting nominations for the role of Speaker for the July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023 term.
Council annually elects a Speaker to preside impartially over Council meetings and enforce Roberts’ Rules of Order Newly Revised at meetings of Council. The speaker also presides over all general meetings.
Members who are interested will be supported in the role with a course release or equivalent for their service as Speaker.
Should a nominee be a member of the public they are asked to propose, as part of the nomination process, any fee they would charge.
Candidates are required to confirm as part of the nomination process, their readiness and capability to chair meetings of the Association in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised.
To support a member who is elected to the role, the Association will pay for a workshop with a registered parliamentarian or provide another form of support suitable to the member.
Candidates must submit their nomination and ‘bio’ supporting their candidacy no later than April 30th to the Executive Director.
Council will elect the Speaker at its May meeting.
